In Italian Terms 1 you learned dynamic and articulation markings.
Dynamic markings tell you how loud or soft to play, such as f for loud (forte) and p for soft (piano).
Articulation markings tell you how to emphasize the note, such as staccato for short and detached with crisp tonguing and legato for smooth and slurred with no tonguing.
Expression markings tell you what mood, emotion or feeling to put into the music.
The following words are all marks of expression.

you how fast or slow to play; 
For example; andante means at a walking speed
